Grandma's Meatballs

Sauce:

15 ounce can of tomato sauce

8 ounce can of tomato sauce

29 ounce can whole tomatoes

2 Tbsp olive oil

1 large onion, chopped

2 cloves of garlic, minced or pressed

1 tsp basil leaves, crushed (Rub between finger to bring out flavor)

½ tsp oregano

 

Sauté Onion and garlic in oil in LARGE saucepan.  Add remaining ingredients and simmer for 30 minutes.

 

Meatballs:

1 pound lean ground beef

1 pound hot Italian sausage

1 ½ cups seasoned Italian breadcrumbs

3 eggs

¼ cup milk

3 Tbsp milk

3 Tbsp Parmesan cheese

2 Tbsp parsley

2 cloves of garlic, minced

 

While the sauce is cooking, combine all the ingredients for the meatballs.  Shape into meatballs and brown on all sides in large skillet.  Remove meatballs and drop into the sauce after it has simmered for 30 minutes.

Simmer meatballs in sauce for an additional hour and 15 minutes.
