Roll ½ pound vanilla wafers with rolling pin until they because fine crumbs.
Cream 1 ½ cups powdered sugar and ½ cup butter. Add 2 eggs. Beat well. (Melt butter first.)
Beat 2 pints whipping cream with mixer until stiff. Then add 1 can drained fruit (raspberries are the best) of your choice and about ½ cup chopped nuts.
Butter pan generously and pack in crumbs, saving some for the top. Put in egg part, then fruit part. Cover with the rest of the crumbs.
Refrigerate overnight or at least for four hours.
