One Loaf:
1 cup warm water 1/3 cup sugar 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast 3/4 teaspoon salt 2 tablespoons vegetable oil 3 cups bread flour
In a large bowl, dissolve the sugar in warm water, and then stir in yeast. Allow to proof until yeast resembles a creamy foam.
Mix salt and oil into yeast. Mix in flour one cup at a time. Knead dough until smooth. Place in well oiled pan and turn dough to coat. Cover with a damp cloth. Allow to rise until double in bulk, about one hour.
Punch dough down. Knead for a few minutes (divide in half if using 2 loaf version). Place in well oiled 9x5 loaf pan(s). Allow to rise for 30 minutes or until dough is 1 inch above top of pan.
Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.
